Post subject:  First Lowrider

Ok, so I'm looking to buy my first low rider, I know how they can be as far as maintenance, so any tips? Any would be nice. Thanks

Build it yourself. Nothing better than seeing a car you did the work on get alot of attention. Start on something newer around 1985+ it will be easier to find parts and less likely to have as much rust and problems as the older rides.

also forget to mention, TAKE YOUR TIME. Just cause you buy a car doesn't mean it has to be done in one week. READ, READ, and also ask questions about what your doing at the time. I learned everything I know about hydraulics from a guy named Rick Murray from Denver Colorado. I also READ alot, sometimes over and over the how-to's, the tech articles in LRM and books. Of course their are tons of websites with info, and youtube with some simple things to help you along the way.

There really is nothing wrong with having a pro do something you can't, but trust me you'll feel better from doing it yourself. I had my monte carlo painted by a pro-shop, cause I just wasn't comfortable at the time with painting. I know I felt alot of pride when people saw the setup I installed myself in the ride, got me hired to working on other cars.
